Innovative Initiative for the environment and workplace: Generate innovative initiatives for the environment, workplace and for the development of environmental sustainability
Personal reflection of the competence:
The Northeastern Annex, a 185 apartment complex, once completed will be the only “green building” in that neighborhood of South Jamaica, Queens, New York. This is an initiative that was thought of by me and worked on tirelessly for over two years along with two development consultants. This project will provide housing to senior citizens and rents will be subsidized by the City of New York. The consultants worked with me closely to acquire funding for this project. The total projected cost of $98,000,000. All of this funding was acquired through the use of tax credits from Fortune 500 companies here in the United States. This building will be completely green, utilizing energy efficient windows, doors, solar heating and cooling, green spaces for seniors to plant and grow vegetables and flowers. It should also have a system in place to recycle waste water.
